TEHRAN - Professor Taheri of the Literature Department of Razi University in Kermanshah stated that modern Iranian literature has been influenced by the West more than in previous years due to the increasing contact with different cultures.

He added that the influence is seen more in Iranian blank verse, although the influence of classic Iranian literature on Western literature is undeniable.

He said, "The education of Iranians in foreign countries and the translation of famous literary works are also considered to be some other reasons."

He mentioned that folklore plays an important role in the literature of different nations and added, "This folklore has arisen either from world myths or from nature and the world and has shaped the poetry and literature of different nations in their present form."

He stated that everyone respects values represented in great masterpieces and that is why classic Iranian literature is recognized all over the world.

He also said that the university will add at least 10 more Persian literature and language courses at the M.A and Ph.D levels.
